Bhí muiltín beag agam ar téadall,
A lig mé leis fhein a chionn,
Ach go beidh go chaill mé mo mhuirnín ,
Ní bheadh ach mo scarú ann,
Shiulfaidh sí liom achan áit,
Frid altan is barr na mbann,
Tá na madaí mo dhiaidh achan lá,
'S tá Hiudaí gan grásta liom.
II
Ní athruighthear mise 'rith lae,
Tá m'asnacha géar i mo dhruim,
'S níorbh' eagla go rachainn-se ar strae,
Dá leigfeá liom fhéin mo chionn.
Dá leigfinn-se thusa de'n téad,
B'aithreach dom fhéin dá chionn,
Is gan fhios cá rachainn do dhéidh,
S’an olann a bheinn gan mhoill.
III
Fuigfidh mé 'n lomairt mo dhéidh,
Fág giobach mo bhléan 's mo dhruim,
Is caithfidh mé 'n Nollaig fá phléisiúr,
Thoir ag cuid caorach Toim,
Nuair a chuaigh mé isteach ar an tréad,
Níor thaispeán siad fabhar dom ann.
Chionn ‘s go rabh mé 'mo Ghael,
Is cha raibh croí acu d'aon ach Gall.

Absolutely love that deep concertina sound. And the range of expression that Cormac brings out through this instrument, well beyond the intentions of the designers or makers of these instruments. And, feel sorry for his poor bellows and reeds. He has to do a lot of personal repair on them. Cormac's album design and presentation are beautiful works of art as well. See him in concert if you can. You can really feel those bass notes resonate through a hall. balinsky
